PRESS
RELEASE
Professional Major League Soccer player Troy Dayak gives
back to his community to help the kids in the league
where he got his start.
June 2, 2005, Livermore, CA - Troy Dayak is a legend in the
professional soccer community. After having recently announced
his retirement from playing professional soccer after sixteen
years, this former Livermore Youth Soccer League player has come
home. Giving back to a community that helped him reach his
goals, Mr. Dayak entered into a long term agreement today with
LYSL to be the new Technical Director for the Livermore Youth
Soccer League.
"The league is excited that we can bring such a talented
professional person to Livermore to help our players achieve
their own personal goals of success on the field and in life,"
says Livermore Youth Soccer League president, Corey Nelson.
"Signing Mr. Dayak to this position will not only give our
children a real-life example of what hard work and dedication
can provide, they are also going to have a solid role model for
sportsmanship. He has overcome several potentially career-ending
injures that never dampened his spirit to compete or to work
hard to reach his goals. Mr. Dayak is well known for his support
of community organizations, especially where the kids benefit."
Upon signing with LYSL, Troy wanted the members to know "I
am extremely excited to return to my home town of Livermore. I
look forward to working with LYSL and the members of the club to
help improve and inspire the kids in soccer at any and all
levels." Mr. Dayak added that he is proud to "use my experience
to bring together the entire community to the benefit of our
children in hopes to one day produce more players that can also
reach their dreams of an Olympic experience and professional
career."
Mr. Dayak will begin working immediately in partnership
with the Livermore Youth Soccer League board on the technical
and strategic goals for both the recreational and high
competition playing programs. Watch the Livermore soccer fields
for his trademark black cowboy hat. Then walk up and introduce
yourself to the new Livermore Youth Soccer League Technical
