PRE-TRYOUT SOCCER ACADEMY - The 1st Annual Livermore Youth Soccer Pre-Tryout Academy! Program Directed by Troy Dayak.  This academy will help prepare the players for upcoming high comp tryouts.  Whether your son or daughter is a beginner, intermediate or an advanced player, the Academy can help your child develop the skills needed to compete at the highest level.  (updated 15-Jan-08)

 The academy will be separated into age groups.  As the weeks progress the staff will begin to access their development and help direct them on the improvements needed in order to have a successful tryout.  This academy will be for players who are serious about learning and developing.  This is not a soccer camp. 

  • Directed by Troy Dayak

  • Personal instruction from qualified licensed trainers

  • Approximate 15:1 player to instructor ratio

  • Players grouped by age

  • Individualized and group instruction

  • Special sessions available for advanced players and goalkeepers

  • Academy times are from 4-5:30 on Thursdays.

LEAGUE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Livermore Youth Soccer League has a single Technical Director in charge of its coach and player development programs. This individual is responsible for providing experienced guidance with the selection of our High Comp coaches, trainers, and players for the high comp teams. Overseeing the House player training activities and coaching education and advice rounds out the Technical Director's role in our league.

Professional Major League Soccer player Troy Dayak gives back to his community to help the kids in the league where he got his start.

June 2, 2005, Livermore, CA - Troy Dayak is a legend in the professional soccer community. After having recently announced his retirement from playing professional soccer after sixteen years, this former Livermore Youth Soccer League player has come home. Giving back to a community that helped him reach his goals, Mr. Dayak entered into a long term agreement today with LYSL to be the new Technical Director for the Livermore Youth Soccer League.

"The league is excited that we can bring such a talented professional person to Livermore to help our players achieve their own personal goals of success on the field and in life," says Livermore Youth Soccer League president, Corey Nelson. "Signing Mr. Dayak to this position will not only give our children a real-life example of what hard work and dedication can provide, they are also going to have a solid role model for sportsmanship. He has overcome several potentially career-ending injures that never dampened his spirit to compete or to work hard to reach his goals. Mr. Dayak is well known for his support of community organizations, especially where the kids benefit."

Upon signing with LYSL, Troy wanted the members to know "I am extremely excited to return to my home town of Livermore. I look forward to working with LYSL and the members of the club to help improve and inspire the kids in soccer at any and all levels." Mr. Dayak added that he is proud to "use my experience to bring together the entire community to the benefit of our children in hopes to one day produce more players that can also reach their dreams of an Olympic experience and professional career."

Mr. Dayak will begin working immediately in partnership with the Livermore Youth Soccer League board on the technical and strategic goals for both the recreational and high competition playing programs. Watch the Livermore soccer fields for his trademark black cowboy hat. Then walk up and introduce yourself to the new Livermore Youth Soccer League Technical Director, Troy Dayak.

ABOUT TROY DAYAK

     

Technical Director Experience

Certified Director of Coaching in April 2007.

Hired in 2005 as the league Technical Director of Livermore Youth Soccer League.

 

Coaching Experience

2005-2007 Head Coach and Vice President of MISL California Cougars.

 

MLS Experience

Dayak is a 16 year professional soccer star, currently affiliated with the MLS San Jose Earthquakes; Troy has been a part of two of the Earthquakes' MLS Championships.

 

On October 8, 2005, the San Jose Earthquakes held a rally for Troy after there last season home game. This was his last home game as an MLS player. It was LYSL DAY and hundreds of LYSL players and parents attended the game to support the team and especially Troy.


His numerous credentials include:

  • Has played for many professional soccer teams including the NPSL Cleveland Crunch, San Jose Grizzlies, San Jose Clash and San Francisco Bay Seals (as Team Captain and Assistant Coach)

  • Has won a National Championship in each of three professional U.S. soccer leagues

  • Served as the 2001 MLS All-Star Captain; awarded Comeback Player of the Year and Humanitarian of the Year

Other Pro Experience

Appeared in 27 games in 2000 as player/assistant coach for the Bay Area Seals. Scored four goals and notched four assists for 12 points. One of top scorers among defenders in A-League. During 1999 A-League season suffered season-ending right knee injury, tearing the posterior cruciate ligament and the medial collateral ligament in third game of season with the San Francisco Bay Seals. At age 17, became youngest player ever to sign in the American Professional Soccer League (APSL), the highest level of soccer in the United States at the time, signing with the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks. Helped Blackhawks win the APSL Championship in 1991. Played with the Cleveland Crunch (indoor) of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) during 1993-1994 season, helping lead them to the title. Part of San Jose Grizzlies indoor team in 1995.

 

International

Appeared for United States at the U-16, U-20, U-23 levels, while also earning 11 caps for the senior national team. Played in U-16 World Cup in Canada. Helped U-20 national team to best-ever 4th place finish at World Youth Championships in Saudi Arabia in 1989. Played in 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

 

Personal

Married to wife Karen with daughter Adaurie and son T.J. Also played baseball and football at Livermore High School. Offered scholarship to play football (free safety/running back) at Oregon State, but turned it down to pursue soccer career. Coaches youth teams in Tracy and Livermore. Owns soccer store, Dayak's Den Soccer, in Tracy, store specializes in team and league uniforms...Has his own fan club, the Dayak's Den Fan Club in Tracy. Enjoys playing golf and riding motorcycles with his father, Pete. Brother, Tanner, served in the military, spending time in Kosovo and Germany. Possesses Agricultural License to be a licensed farmer. Owns a farm of mostly alfalfa that covers 40 acres in Tracy. Planning to build regulation-size lighted soccer field on his property with the help of friends and family. Coached several teams in his off-season...Spoke to kids and signed autographs at numerous youth soccer tournaments during the off-season...Earned U.S. Soccer Federation "A" License in January of 2005.

 

Inducted into the California Youth Soccer Association Hall of Fame in January 2005.

 

Current board member, U.S. Soccer Athletes Council.

A strong believer in community involvement, Troy is involved in many youth programs throughout Northern California. He frequently conducts soccer camps, youth team training and personal training programs for a variety of organizations, participating in over 100 programs during his lengthy professional career.
