F.C. Livermore United (1) vs SACYSL Cruz Azul (0)
Game Summary & Highlights: F.C. Livermore United
U16 Boys won its ninth consecutive league contest with a 1-0 win over
SACYSL Cruz Azul. United scored the lone goal on a set play after a
striker took a hard foul near the top of the penalty box. Departing from
the usual chip over the wall, Alex Garcia surprised the Cruz Azul
defense with a hard pass on the ground through two walls right to the
feet of Enrique Gonzales who two-touched the ball past the diving Cruz
Azul goal keeper. Playing with a different lineup due to two players
sitting out with broken noses, Jason Trumpp, Cody Hoster, Geovani
Carbajal, Jonathan Ramirez, Devon Mah, and Garcia played well filling
in; out of their normal positions. The shutout was the tenth this season
and earned the United defense dinner with the coach. The league win is
the nineteenth consecutive for United who looks to complete their second
undefeated season in a row next week against Newark. The boys will then
square off against each other for the next three months as they all head
off to their high school teams at Livermore, Granada, Dublin, Serra, and
Bellermine.
