Many hours go into creating schedules. Additionally, once schedules are release it is a HUGE effort to get all of the league members updated on any changes. Changes are usually a small correction, but generates frustration for those that "already marked their calendar". Changes with the schedule are just plain painful, you can be assured. The shear magnitude of scheduling and the impact on so many other things prohibits rescheduling of games for anything other than rainouts (and even then it is subject to field availability). For this reason, once the schedules are released the games are not rescheduled. Considerations made when scheduling games include:
Be aware that not all circumstances are under the league's control. Weather, broken water pipes on the field, etc. can all contribute to a field closure. Life happens, school functions of players and their siblings, convenience issues, we all deal with that on a daily basis. The league can offer games, but by the very nature of life can not make all things work 100% of the time for all of our 2,800 players and their teams. We wish we could, just like you do. So we'll all do the best we can and move on. GOALS MUST BE STAKED DOWN SECURELY On the top priorities for the soccer league and the referee association this year is that all goals are safe. If a goal is not staked down or the stake is broken, the game will not be allowed to continue until the stake is fixed or replaced. No one should be playing in an unsafe environment. If the game is halted or not started, please inform the AGC of the issue and the cause. While there is no guarantee that field space will be available for a rescheduled match. Safety first. Please report any schedule issues to our Scheduler. Notify the AGC within 72 hours if your team can not make a scheduled game. The AGC will notify the referee association to cancel any scheduled referees and the other coach will be able to notify their team. The game will be marked as a forfeit, but at least not not everyone else shows up to a game that is not going to happen. A little about Referees: Referees need to be schedule two weeks prior to game and are assigned based on their availability and level of experience. Do not assume that an adult is experienced (we have many new recruits each year) nor are any of the referees without human feelings. They are always learning. The biggest factor in referees quitting, especially in the beginning of their first year, is abuse from the parents and coaches. Not surprisingly, the players are rarely an issue. New and experienced referees are each learning at all times. Not one is perfect. No one mistake will change the lives of anyone on the field. So PLEASE be the calm spectator and/or coach that we all know you can be. Yelling should contain POSITIVE and ENCOURAGING comments for the players. If you have a question on a call, please ask the referee after the game or email RefereeOfficer@livermorerefs.org. HAVE A FUN SEASON! Please let us know if you can assist you in any way.
