 NEWS
-
SCHOOLS
- LYSL and the school district work closely to work out potential
school sites that teams may practice on. Each school has a
significant say in what teams are allowed to do or not, so please
respect the boundaries.
-
SCRIMMAGES - If you want arrange a scrimmage game, please email
operations@lysl.org.
Remember that scheduled season games have already begun on most
fields and have priority over scrimmages and practices. Check with
me and let's see what we can find for you.
-
FIELD
INITIATIVE - There are not enough fields for every organization that wants to use them. The league board is working on
trying to improve short-term and medium-term goals to help find the
soccer teams enough decent space to have practice and games. We are
trying to form a field committee to work on those and bigger,
long-term goals to get a sports complex. We need more dedicated
people to help the league and its member meet their goals. Please
volunteer to help out. We will be glad to give details to those that
contact us. [click here for more
information]
FIELD
PRIORITIES - Scheduled games have priority over scrimmages and
practices. [click
here for field priority policy] Goals on the field are not to be
used for practices or impromptu scrimmages. Scheduled games and
scheduled scrimmages are assigned to specific fields.
Practices
are where ever there is space on public LARPD parks [click
here for LARPD field locations]. There is not age group
associated with any particular fields except when schedules games
happen.
At this
time, teams are not to practice on school property. There can be
confusion in some spots due to both organizations having fields
share a boundary line. Try to stay on the side that the "LARPD" park
sign is on.
COMING
SOON: LYSL and the School District are working on a plan to make
some school sites available for practices. Check back soon for
details and guidelines for use of those locations.
-
Equipment Manager - Bob Suhr has joined LYSL as our
new Equipment Manager. While Bob is getting up-to-speed quickly
about the field equipment, he is available at
equipment@lysl.org for
reports of
missing flags or nets, goals out (that you can not put away
yourself), locks missing/broken or other field equipment issues. For
field equipment emergencies, have your league board contact call
Corey's celphone and she will co-ordinate with Bob.
All
reports of field conditions, balls, cones, goalie jerseys, etc.

What Do You Do If It
Rains?
BEFORE THE GAME: Call the LARPD Field Status line at
925-373-5702, 1#. This information is updated daily around 2pm is
changes are needed. If the line says the playing fields are closed,
then the practice or game is off for the day. Your coach will discuss the matter with
the AGC for HC Rep about what comes next.
Open/Closed status can change at any time, but once closed, they are closed
the rest of the day.
If the sign on the field and/or the turf line notes that the fields are "closed",
the field may NOT be played on. Teams must respect field closures for the
long term health of the field for everyone's use.
If
turf hot line message does not agree with the park signage (one says closed
but the other does not) then the fields are still closed and may NOT be
played on.
Failure
to respect the indicated field closure status can cause excessive wear and
serious long term damage to the condition of the playing surface. This could
adversely affect the future availability of the field for everyone's use.
Please help us to work with the Park District as responsible community
partners by only using fields that are designated as OPEN.
DURING THE GAME: If at anytime the referee (or field monitor/coaches
for U5-U8 games) consider the conditions unsafe, the game will be abandoned.
Check with the AGC or HC Rep for what happens next.

Fields
We Play On
Below is a
list of the fields that LYSL is playing on this season.
All fields come under the authority of either LARPD or LVUSD. The LARPD fields can be located on their website at
http://www.larpd.dst.ca.us/map.html.
The LARPD fields may be used at any time so long as they are open. It is
important that you look at the website because some fields are under LARPD
jurisdiction that you may think are under LVUSD (ex. Christensen) Note
that school fields are NOT to be practiced on. The league has turned down
the school district's offer to rent the fields to us for practices for a
fee. Please use public land like our park system (LARPD parks).
All fields used by teams must be shared by all teams present. It is
not first come, first served as much as moving over to make room for other
teams with equal space. No team has priority over another, even if one team
is in a "higher" division than another. They are all kids and all citizens
of the city has the same right to field access on public grounds. Practices can happen in less room than a full sized field. Please be
considerate of other teams.
Independence Park (aka Kellman) is the main High Comp field. The standing agreement the
Directors of House and High Comp have is that House teams will not practice
on Kellman fields since all training for High Comp teams are squeezed onto
this one field to help keep out of the way of the House teams. Please honor
that agreement. Kellman is overused as it is.
LOOK AROUND YOU!
We get access to the fields granted to us to used, not abused. Please pick up
any trash or report and field safety issues. Let's work together to keep our
city beautiful and our parks open and available! THANKS!
Please make sure to lock up
goals. Lock up flags, nets, etc. into the lock boxes and LOCK
the box when ever it is not actively being used. SAFETY first
for the kids playing about those boxes, please! THANKS!

Field Locations
and Maps

sizes, depending on individual park conditions:

City School Map:

During the first few weeks of the season, the fields may be marked (1, 2,
or 3) near the center circle so that team can get used to which field is
which. However, the basic assumption should be that Field 1 is the
West/North fields and counting towards 2 or 3 going toward the East/South.
Teams (players and coaches) are on one side of the field in their
technical area and spectators are on the other side. This allows for better
control of the game.

Turf
Conditions
Open/Closed Status
The "Open" or "Closed" state of the fields (LARPD
and
LVJUSD) regarding
availability for soccer is communicated in a variety of ways. Remember that if
a field is closed, it is not always due to rain or other obvious reasons.
Please note that if LARPD closes all their fields, the school must be
considered closed also.
If LARPD closes the fields, they
are likely to do so before the first scheduled game, but it could be later in
the day, as the weather changes.
Field Signs - Most LARPD
fields have signs that flip over to show the field is
open
or
closed.
If sign is in the closed position, no activities are permitted on the fields,
including practices and games.
Website -
The
LARPD Turf web page (http://www.larpd.dst.ca.us/turf.html) is updated all the time.
Phone Message -
Recorded outgoing messages for the fields is
updated all the time.

Referee Determination on the Field
-
Even if
the fields are open, if
the game referee deems unsafe conditions, the game is cancelled. Safety of the
players comes first.
Rainout and Cancellation of Game Policy
Should a game be cancelled for any reason, check the
Standard Operating Procedures
for determination of the outcome of the game.
Maintenance
Should the fields require attention for safety,
vandalism or other reasons, please contact the appropriate agency.
