REMEMBERING AND HONORING COACH RON CHELL
9/20/2011
Fusion SC in collaboration with the Livermore Referee Association held a Minute of Silence
prior to every Premier Program home game
the weekend of Oct. 8th. to honor and remember Coach Ron
The
Fusion Soccer Club family has lost one of its most colorful coaching
members. The club is deeply saddened to announce that Coach Ron Chell
has lost his brave battle against cancer on September 19th, 2011. Ron
passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
Coach Ron was a
member of our professional coaching staff since 2010. He immediately
became one of the most popular coaches with players, parents and fellow
colleagues alike. His enthusiasm for the game and passion to teach was
contagious. His positive attitude, energy and knowledge of the game were
a tremendous asset to the club. He lived, breathed and talked soccer
all the time. Soccer was his second passion, his family being first. He
is deeply missed by many, many people, most importantly the players he
so much cared about. The Fusion SC family extends our deepest sympathy to Ron’s family.
Coach Ron Chell Famous Quotes:
After a game, when we're in the car, don't say anything.
Instead, "buy them some ice cream and have some fun. Leave them alone
and enjoy them."
“Rock on Tommy” (from English
comedians, Cannon and Ball). Basically means “Carry on, I agree”

FUSION SC PREMIER PLAYERS RECOGNIZED
8/25/2011
The
following Fusion SC Premier Players have been recognized and received
top honors for their performance over the last month for the
Norcal/Hawaii TOTM. Congratulations for a job well done and the continued commitment to the sport of soccer.
Jake Foscolina - U15, Forward
Jake, a '97, is an explosive forward with tremendous space that can stretch defenses. His ability to find balls in the
air is complimented by his power and placement of balls in the
attacking third. Transitioning from midfield to forward he has averaged
1.33 goals per game in summer tournament
play. He is constantly drawing double teams and still manages to find
the back of the net. Jake is a 2011 Cal North Selection.
Matthew Dremalas - U15, Defender
Matthew, a '97, is a strong and athletic back who likes to get forward. He converted from outside back to central
defender but has the qualities of a holding midfielder. Matt is
technically good with feet, powerful in the air, finds penetrating
passes and is the leading goal scorer amongst
the backs. His ability to ping balls to teammates on the far side of
the field separate him from the rest of the backs his age. Matthew is a
2011 Cal North Selection.
Erik Salgado - U15, Defender
Erik,
a '96, is a strong outside back whose pace and allows him to get up the
pitch. His ability to service balls accurately allows scoring changes.
He is strong in the air and
technically able to possess the ball out of the back. During summer
play, his side of the field his team has given up no goals. Erik is a
2011 Cal North Selection.
Jessica Mahabali - U13, Midfielder
Jessica,
a '98, is a crafty player with the versatility and athleticism to cover
any position on the pitch. She has been recognized by many northern
California coaches as
a player that plays the right way by showing balance of technical and
visual soccer to create opportunities for her team. She is good in 1v1
situations and shows great leadership on the field.

FUSION SC PREMIER TEAMS IMPRESS IN TOURNAMENT PLAY
8/23/2011
Through
the summer months Fusion SC Premier teams have been competing in
tournaments all over California. In total the club was present at 30 tournaments
and counting. To date we have 4 Championships, 8 Championship finalists
and another 6 consolation games. While reaching the finals is always
nice, the complements from
opposition focused on how our teams are playing and the style of play.
With Fusion SC focusing on the way we play and develop the players, it
is great to hear people noticing,
normally good play means positive results and this is definitely the
case. Congratulations to all the Premier teams on representing Fusion SC and themselves which such class.

COACH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL
8/23/2011
Fusion
SC is developing many programs to better the player experience at all
levels in the club. None are more beneficial than the Coach Development Program.
The focus of this program is to keep progressing the knowledge and
ideas of the Professional coaches in the club, as well as provide the
Recreational and Recreational Plus Program
coaches with a consistent training methodology based on the Fusion SC
model. Every year new ideas from around the world change the way we
think in coaching youth players and keep up with these ideas or adding them to past experiences is key to coach development.
This
year Fusion SC sent the Premier Coaches to attend many different
courses, a stand out being the organization of the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
All of the attendees successfully completed the respective courses and
received the next level of coaching license. Additionally, over 200
volunteer coaches from the Recreational Programs attended the Fusion SC Coach Training Clinics held over two sessions. This remarkable attendance and achievement was the first in the club’s 36 year history.
Fusion
SC is committed to continue to make investments in coaching education
in order to better serve the players in our programs and our club. Congratulations to the following Professional coaches in achieving their next level in coaching licenses:
Rob Hansen - NSCAA National Diploma
Matt Caution - NSCAA National Diploma
Craig Scheer - NSCAA National Diploma
Laura King - NSCAA National Diploma
David Mahabali - NSCAA Premier Diploma

Robertson Park Re-Surface Project Update
1/16/2011
This is an information
update for the upcoming project to install synthetic all weather turf as
the playing surface on the two fields located inside the fence at
Robertson Park.
The
2011 Fusion SC Executive Committee has reaffirmed the clubs desire to
maintain the project specific use agreement entered into with the
Livermore Area Recreation and Parks in the fall of 2009. Under this
agreement, Fusion SC will provide significant financial support for the
resurfacing project in exchange for annual priority field scheduling and
annual non-billed use of 2000 field hours (12,000 hours total which
must be used within 8 years of project completion).
With the incoming Executive Committee's nod of approval, LARPD is now
preparing to advertise the project for a competitive public bid process
with bids to be received by [TBA Placeholder until the bid schedule is
published]. Assuming the bid process proceeds without dispute, a recommendation to
award the contract will be presented to the LARPD Board of Directors by
LARPD Staff for board action. The target date to start the work is May 2011 with the project
completion for public use anticipated at the beginning of September
2011.
The basic scope of work includes the removal of an
approximately 12 inch
deep top layer of soil/sand/grass, the import and placement
of drainage
fill material, the installation of a new subdrain system to
collect and
transfer storm water, and the installation of the new
playing surface. Other project components include the addition of some
minor paving to
completely border the synthetic surface and the installation
of a low
fence between the spectator areas and the field area.
The estimated project cost is about $2.2M including $600K of funding through Fusion SC.
